More Job Creation Should be The Agenda
• The economic reforms laid Reliance on Foreign investment.
• Because of that, trend has shifted from the manufacturing sector of service industries
• This trend thus has rendered millions out of job.
• Textile Mills the backbone of Mumbai's economy with 2.5 lakhs work force in 1981 has drastically dwindled to 20 thousand now
• This is jobless growth. It is not right. Change the criterion of success to job creation. Put employment on the agenda.

Employment Guarantee Act
The popular perception about employment scheme is that :
• They are an effective instrument for removal of poverty.
• But most important lesson thrown by the experience of Maharashtra employment guarantee scheme is, at best, it can be one of many ways to tackle poverty.
• The Govt. should pinpoint the nature of work under the proposed hundred days employment scheme.
• Issues like financing and resources, division of financial burden between the states & the centre as well as implementation will have to be thoroughly discussed.
• The scheme should not be limited to rural belts alone, but should be extended to urban areas also.

Are you conserned about this serious situation ? Please express your opinion.
Farmers, who feed the country are committing suicide
Alarming Situation in the Country
• Poverty dominates the life of Indian farmers who produce surplus food grains and make plenty of good stock for India.
• India is the second largest Producer of food grains in the world.
• It is the matter of national concern that the farmers of Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal etc. are committing suicide. It is most saddening, unfortunate and horrifying.
• Country's 48.3% farmers are suffering due to burden of heavy debt.
• On an average, every farmer has to pay Rs. 12,585 as loans. But in Punjab the share of the loans amounts to Rs. 41,576. In Kerala it is Rs. 33,907 where as in Haryana it s Rs. 26,007.
• In Andhra Pradesh alone more than 4,000 farmers have committed suicide in the last five years.
• In Karnataka during 2003-04 more than 850 farmers committed suicide in one single year.
• In Kerala 100 farmers have committed suicide in Vayanad district along.
• Only 4% farmers insure their crops, the remaining 96% have been left to the mercy of nature's whims and fury.
• There is no concrete policy of UPA government to stop the suicides among the farmers. It is misfortune for the country.
• Farmers are suffering due to lack of availability of good seeds, electricity, water lack of credit facility and marketing arrangement.
• There is absolute poverty, ignorance, and lack of resources, which altogether have caused great pain and misery.
• It is matter of shame that the farmers, who feed the entire nation, are unable to feed their own children.
