Treat GITA as Rashtriya Dharma Shastra
Allahabad High Court
Hindustan Times 11/9/2007
The Allahabad High Court has expressed the view that it is the duty of the State to recognise the Bhagwad Gita as the Rashtriya Dharma Shastra, which inspired our national struggle for freedom and also all walks of life.
"As India has recognised national flag, national bird, national anthem and national flower, the Bhagwad Gita may also be considered as the Rashtriya Dharma Shastra."
"It is the duty of every citizen of India under Article 51A of the Constitution of India irrespective of caste, creed or religion to follow the 'dharma' propounded by the Bhagwad Gita," the High Court observed.
The view was expressed by Justice S.N. Srivastava while deciding on a write petition filed by priest Shyamal Ranjan Mukherjee of the Gopal Thakur Mandir of Varanasi, challenging the sale of temple properties.
The court also directed the state government, not to permit alienation of any property attached to any temple and other religious institutions (mutts, temples, specified endowments and samadhis) without prior permission of the district judge concerned.

INFILTRATION FROM BANGLADESH
Pressure of Public Opinion Urgently Needed Against Illegal Immigration
• Assam is facing "external aggression" and "internal disturbance" on account of large scale illegal migration of Bangladeshi Nationals.
• It, therefore, becomes the duty of union of India, to take all measures for protection of the state of Assam from such external aggression and internal disturbance as enjoined in article 355 of the constitution.
• These are the observations of the Supreme Court of India, which recently declared the provisions of IMDT Act ( Illegal Migrants- Determination by Tribunals Act) of 1983 and illegal migrants rule 1984 to be ultra virus of the constitution of India and therefore struck them down.
• The provisions of IMDT Act were heavily tilted in favour of illegal immigrants.
(a) Every application made against any person was to be accompanied by affidavits sworn by two people.
(b) It should be accompanied by prescribed fee.
(c) The onus of proof was to lie with the complainant.
• An immigrant got so much time at various stages that he could conveniently disappear whenever be found that action was going to be against him. Detection and deportation under the Act became extremely slow process.
• The present Congress Government of Assam, however, filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court to the effect that the IMDT Act was not protecting the interests of Bangladeshis as perceived by the former AGP regime., The submission was a masterpiece of hypocrisy. It was mainly to gain short term political mileage without national interest.
• The massive illegal immigration poses a grave danger to our security, social harmony and economic well being.
• The salient features of the Supreme Court judgement are:-
1.The influx of Bangladeshi nationals has changed the demographic character of the region and the local people of Assam have been reduced to a minority in certain districts.
2.The presence of such a large number of illegal migrants amounts to an 'aggression' on the state of Assam.
• The phenomenon affects the sister states of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland etc.
• The Bangladeshi nationals, who have illegally crossed the border and have trespassed into Assam are living in other parts of the country have no legal right of any kind to remain in India and they are liable to be deported.
• The Government of each state has always the right to compel foreigners, who are found within its territory to go away, by having them taken to the frontier.
• But there are serious doubts about Assam, where the congress government's attitude and policies are influenced by vote bank considerations.
Beware:- Mujibur Rehman said openly in a meeting "East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, must have a significant land for its expansion and because Assam has abundant forest and mineral resources, coal, petroleum etc. East Pakistan must annexe Assam so that EAst Pakistan is financially and economically strong".
Thinks:- King of Bhutan, with great personal courage, with the help of India drove out ULFA from his country. Can we drive out illegal immigrants from our soil?
Act:- In a democracy, much will depend on the pressure built up by the masses on the ruling government.

Reforms :
"Manufacturing Sector" a casualty in India
• India and China launched their Economic Reforms Programmes almost 15 years back.
• In the last 10 years China has forged ahead on most economic measures.
• Over the last 20 years China's GDP has grown 10% a year compared with India is 6% growth rate.
• In 1990 manufacturing in China was 37% of the total economy. Today that has relatively increased to about 45%. China now produces 50% of the world's cameras, 30% of the Air Conditioners and Television sets, 25% of the Washing Machines and 20% of the Refrigerators. More Job Creation Should be The Agenda
• The economic reforms laid Reliance on Foreign investment.
• Because of that, trend has shifted from the manufacturing sector of service industries
• This trend thus has rendered millions out of job.
• Textile Mills the backbone of Mumbai's economy with 2.5 lakhs work force in 1981 has drastically dwindled to 20 thousand now
• This is jobless growth. It is not right. Change the criterion of success to job creation. Put employment on the agenda.

  1. Employment Guarantee Act
The popular perception about employment scheme is that :

    • They are an effective instrument for removal of poverty.
    • But most important lesson thrown by the experience of Maharashtra employment guarantee scheme is, at best, it can be one of many ways to tackle poverty.
    • The Govt. should pinpoint the nature of work under the proposed hundred days employment scheme.
    • Issues like financing and resources, division of financial burden between the states & the centre as well as implementation will have to be thoroughly discussed.
    • The scheme should not be limited to rural belts alone, but should be extended to urban areas also.

Are you conserned about this serious situation ? Please express your opinion.
Farmers, who feed the country are committing suicide
Alarming Situation in the Country

• Poverty dominates the life of Indian farmers who produce surplus food grains and make plenty of good stock for India.
• India is the second largest Producer of food grains in the world.
• It is the matter of national concern that the farmers of Maharashtra, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal etc. are committing suicide. It is most saddening, unfortunate and horrifying.
• Country's 48.3% farmers are suffering due to burden of heavy debt.
• On an average, every farmer has to pay Rs. 12,585 as loans. But in Punjab the share of the loans amounts to Rs. 41,576. In Kerala it is Rs. 33,907 where as in Haryana it s Rs. 26,007.
• In Andhra Pradesh alone more than 4,000 farmers have committed suicide in the last five years.
• In Karnataka during 2003-04 more than 850 farmers committed suicide in one single year.
• In Kerala 100 farmers have committed suicide in Vayanad district along.
• Only 4% farmers insure their crops, the remaining 96% have been left to the mercy of nature's whims and fury.
• There is no concrete policy of UPA government to stop the suicides among the farmers. It is misfortune for the country.
• Farmers are suffering due to lack of availability of good seeds, electricity, water lack of credit facility and marketing arrangement.
• There is absolute poverty, ignorance, and lack of resources, which altogether have caused great pain and misery.
• It is matter of shame that the farmers, who feed the entire nation, are unable to feed their own children.
